1]  A good word is charity

Abu Hurairah (RadhiAllah-hu ‘anhu) reported:

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“It is also charity to utter a good word.”

2]  When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three

Abu Huraira (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu) reported: Allah’s Messenger ﷺ as saying:

When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased).

[Sahih Muslim – Book 13 – Hadith 4005]

 

3]  Best charity is that which is practiced by a wealthy person

Narrated Abu Huraira (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu),

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The best charity is that which is practiced by a wealthy person. And start giving first to your dependents.”

[Sahih Bukhari – Book 24 – Hadith 507]

 

4]  Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth

Abu Huraira (Radhi-Allahu ‘anhu) reported:

Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying:

Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).

[Sahih Muslim – Book 032: Hadith 6264]

 

5]  Spending on family with intention of Allah’s reward is sadaqa.

Narrated Abu Masud Al-Ansari (Radhiallahu ‘anhu):

The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When a Muslim spends something on his family intending to receive Allah’s reward it is regarded as sadaqa for him.”

[Sahih Bukhari – Book 64 – Hadith 263]

 

6]  Guard against the Hell Fire even by giving half a date-fruit in charity

`Adi bin Hatim (Radhiallahu anhu) reported,

Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

“Guard yourselves against the Fire (of Hell) even if it be only with half a date-fruit (given in charity); and if you cannot afford even that, you should at least say a good word.”

7]  Gates of Jannah for Salah, Jihad, Saum and Sadaqa

Abu Hurairah (Radhiallahu anhu) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said,

“He who spends a pair in the way of Allah will be called from the gates of Jannah:

`O slave of Allah! This gate is better for you’ and one who is constant in Salat (prayer), will be called from the Gate of Salat;

and whoever is eager in fighting in the Cause of Allah, will be called from the Gate of Jihad;

and who is regular in observing Saum will be called from Ar-Raiyan Gate.

The one who is generous in charity will be called from the Gate of Charity.”

Abu Bakr (Radhiallahu anhu) said:”O Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! Those who are called from these gates will stand in need of nothing. Will anybody be called from all of those gates?”

He (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Yes, and I hope that you will be one of them.”

8]  Who is the poor person

Narrated Abu Huraira (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu):

 Prophet of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

“The poor person is not the one who goes round the people and ask them for a mouthful or two (of meals) or a date or two but the poor is that who has not enough (money) to satisfy his needs and whose condition is not known to others, that others may give him something in charity, and who does not beg of people.”

[Sahih Bukhari – Book 24 – Hadith 557]

9]  Charity in secret extinguishes the wrath of the Lord

Umm Salamah (RadhiAllahu ‘anha) reported,

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

“Good works protect from evil fates.

Charity in secret extinguishes the wrath of the Lord,

maintaining family ties increases life span,

and every good deed is charity.

The people of good in the world are the people of good in the Hereafter, and the people of evil in the world are the people of evil in the Hereafter. And the first to enter Paradise are the people of good.”

10]  Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu)

that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

“Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”
